Narvesen CO2 ZERO
The first climate-neutral "Narvesen" store in Latvia
SIA Reitan Convenience Latvia (brands "Narvesen" and "Caffeine") has opened the first climate-neutral retail space within its network, marking an important step towards sustainable business practices in Latvia. The project has been developed in collaboration with CO2 ZERO and modular building manufacturer Master Industry, resulting in a new-concept modular building that ensures a neutral climate footprint while providing all the essential conveniences for everyday shopping.
What makes this store unique is its innovative approach to construction and lifecycle sustainability. Calculations show that the total CO₂e emissions from construction are negative, thanks to the extensive use of renewable and recyclable materials. Moreover, 92% of the materials used in the production of the building modules can be reused or recycled at the end of the structure's life cycle.
Taking into account the estimated energy consumption over the building's intended 50-year lifespan, the project achieves a result of 0 kg CO₂e per square meter per year. This makes it not only the first climate-neutral retail space within the Reitan Convenience Latvia network but also a significant benchmark in sustainable retail architecture in the Baltics.
